Great pic Tim! Gotta be South Bend Indiana of course! Lousy, cold weather. Note the radiator blanket on the one car.
And the poor paint condition on all of them. I doubt that is salt residue, as I also doubt they used it back then like they do now.
Love the great pic quality.
The "other Tim"

Now that is a picture! Side curtains have always interested me, especially if they are made correctly.

I agree with that, although I have to agree with a comment made by a friend of ours, that the "authentic" ones do make the inside of your car darker than god's pocket... however, there's nothing like being somewhat warm and comfortable in inclement weather!

So they had transparent plastic back then?

Of course they did, it's what comprises the back window of the top... otherwise it wouldn't be able to roll up, as it did on the early tops.

One of the big complaints was that it yellowed and cracked (not unlike today!), so a number of firms made glass replacements for the square windows in later tops.

The “windows” in side curtains were not plastic, but made of “isinglass”, thin sheets of mica, transparent and reasonably flexible for the purpose, but fragile.

Here's a short history and some clarification on 'Isinglass' window material.
I have no connection to the firm just thought it was a nice and clear explanation of the matter, plus it had a picture of a T ;)
