Chris Brancaccio and Jeff Stevenson are going to host the first ever
LIVE STREAMED MTFCA webinar for the first 500 people who register and attend. You'll get to meet them and even ask questions live. They will give you a first look at the brand new MTFCA website redesign that will be going live soon and talk about some upcoming events.
Since the entire country is sheltered in place, we may use this format for all kinds of events in the future. It will be recorded and published to YouTube or viewing by anyone at anytime. This is our first experiment, so expect some glitches.
All you need is a computer, iPad, tablet, iPhone android phone or Mac that you can watch videos on with sound. If you can watch Youtube videos, you can attend and watch this Webinar!
Easter Sunday, 11:00 Pacific time.

You are invited to a Zoom webinar.
When: Apr 12, 2020 11:00 AM Pacific Time (US and Canada)

Yup, Easter Sunday. Over 100 registered folks so far seem to think this would be fun.
If you don't make it, it'll be on Youtube. If we have spare time to upload it.
Why tomorrow? Because some of us still have day jobs during the week and we're trying our best to run our companies during a massive crisis from 4AM in the morning until total exhaustion sets in. If we're going to test new ideas and technologies for this club that at the end of the day is just a hobby and that ultimately benefit the group as a whole, it may not be convenient for you, but it is for us. And we certainly don't get paid to do this. You also don't have to attend...

I say perfect! A new rising force! Jesus rose up. A new, rising force.
The model T folks can and will rise up to meet any challenge. Duh.
Yes on Easter Sunday! If the sun shines and you're alive, do it.
Those of us that don't Zoom, let's hope the fellas can get youtube also if they have the time!
I think this is really neat.
Rock on, model T world! We are a force, remember.

Shoot, I'm signed in! If this works, I'll see you tomorrow/today!
I'd like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, which I usually am, trouble with Zoom is, it costs money per month.
Unless of course you "mooch" on their 14 day free trial!!
But it is a good idea. Maybe I'll still register, maybe I'll just pick it up on YouTube. I love YouTube!!!
Frohe Ostern gentlemen!
Happy Easter gentlemen!

Yes,that's correct and I pay for it and I also have the "Big Boy" license. My company puts on webinars/virtual tastings for wineries for up to 500 attendees. So I'm donating the technology and license use to the MTFCA club.
So you all get to use it for
FREE on me.
There's a virtual wine tasting with Iron Horse Vineyards today at 10am pacific that I'm putting on right before the MTFCA broadcast. there are already several hundred folks registered for that. And yes, on Easter Sunday. If anyone would like to attend that virtual wine tasting, feel free to do so. you can register for it here:
https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_UGE ... YAAA_VCGoA
After that ends at around 10:45, go to your email to get the link to the Mtfca broadcast that starts at 11am PST.

As most of us are sheltering at home without our families with us we thought it would be a nice little diversion before your dinner this evening.

We've had cabin fever this winter with the hopes of spring but now with the extended cabin fever not beyond our control are we getting a little grumpy? We need a little uplifting enlightenment and suggest that you tune in to what our leadership has to say.,....

The free version of Zoom is pretty adequate for most people. One on one conversations have unlimited duration. Meetings of three or more are limited to 40 minutes.
This was a great experiment. Thank you, hosts!

Hi, this was great. I just caught the last 15-20 minutes because of other Easter things. I did my first zoom meeting last Friday and it was pretty amazing. The potential for this is huge.

I caught the last 30 minutes and it worked quite well. I didn’t put my hand up as I’m having a lazy day and still in PJs.
I did loose connection about 11:33 but rentered with very little effort. It will be fun when we start discussing T issues like my hard cranking, which is now thankfully resolved. Just for information, I used an iPhone and really it was easy to download the app and connect.
Let us know when you plan the next webinar.

I have a sneaking suspicion that will change...
For those looking for a good webcam so you can participate next time, check out the logitech series. I have the 920 but any HD version will have both the camera and mic built into it.Or just join from your smart phone. That little device works great! the only drawback is the screen size.

My First Zoom group.Would be nice it there was a roster of who was signed in.So You know Your really connected not just watching. I know this was the first but it didn't seem like a group gathering. Seemed like I was ease drooping on a conversation between Chris and Jeff. Loved the green screen and shop in the background.Connection went flaky about 11:30 tried reconnecting several times but feed was cutting in and out So I clicked leave. Keep up the good work it will get better.

I have had my webcam for ages, but a friend told me that he had located a Logitech webcam for a very reasonable price on Amazon about ten days ago and held off buying it. When he went back to look for it, the delivery date had shifted to mid- to late May.
Yes, smart phones work, but it's like carrying on a conversation with a postage stamp.
Good luck, everyone! It's a very worthwhile purchase....

I'm sorry, but the middle of the day on Easter, when a lot of us are doing family things or (in my case) cooking may have not been the best time to do this...
I missed it. My family kinda came first today. Were it maybe Saturday, or next Sunday, or... well... never mind. I do love our hobby, but it's nto the only thing in my life....
So if you decide to do it again, great. If not, then... well... what can I say? Feel like, if this was this earth-shaking, we really missed out on something.

I feel today was more of a test run than anything so if you missed it you didn't miss anything that will set the world on fire. As for the time of day, its 5 O'clock somewhere so 11 AM to the left coast was 2 PM where I live. We reach members all over the world so the time worked well for most of us here in the US but maybe not so much for members down under. Maybe the days of the week and times could vary in the future so everyone could sit in from time to time. Everyone has different times that would be better for them but maybe not for the host.
With that said, please don't make me the host till I get the controls to work on my end, and even then its a huge risk!

I didn't make the "live" Webinar yesterday but watched the YouTube video of it later in the day. My wife has been attending Zoom meetings now for a few weeks as part of her job. I really haven't paid that much attention to it but it got me thinking about using Zoom for a monthly club meeting with our local MTFCA Chapter, The Flatland T's of Kansas. Perhaps we will be over the "stay at home" order in a short while but, why not make Zoom an option for all of our local Flatland T's meetings in the future? We have members from many miles away that could join in on a Flatland T's meeting from the comfort of their remote location. While not everyone has access to the Internet or a computer/smart phone or web cam today, our culture rapidly changing.
To our Webmasters who scheduled this experiment, THANKS!!! I'm glad to see our leaders are thinking outside the box and keeping up with technology.

Yesterday I was able to attend the webinar.
I would like to provide my perspective on it.
I believe it achieved three objectives:
1) Demonstrated the technology can be used for our purposes.
While each of us have different computer platforms and a variety of accessories, everyone could participate to different degrees.
I have used high tech videoconferencing technology since the late 1990's. Like any other tool; it is effective if used properly.
2) We all got to know Chris and Jeff a little better.
While Chris and I both live in Calgary and know each other well I was able to meet Jeff on line and learn a bit more about him.
3) Learn about the upcoming changes to our MTFCA Forum/website.
Thanks to Chris and Jeff, I believe the changes being made to the website and Forum will be more intuitive and be more valuable to us.
Thank you for hosting the webinar and look forward to future ones. I believe we should hold some technical talks as the hosts mentioned yesterday.

Loved it!
I think it is a great way to communicate around the world and help us less techno people participate via a "See and Do' format. We get to meet others without the expense of traveling. With so many members you'll never find a time to please everyone so just DO IT!
Although I will never get a mike so no one has to hear my raspy voice and I will spare the groups eye sight and not get a camera either I will watch them and if I miss one I will visit via you tube.
Thanks!
Denny
Ain't got one of them there smart phones neither!

I admit I am a little puzzled at the indignant "how-dare-you-?" reactions to having a car club-related event on Easter Sunday. Really ??
The traditional start to the "car season" in St. Louis has been - since 1954 - the Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri's Easter Car Show in Forest Park.

I have never heard a a whisper of objection to that show. To each his own, I guess.

Crisis or not going on, many people still get together on Easter with family and go to church, real or virtual. For some Easter Sunday is the only day of the year they go to church. Then they hang out outside and eat and Easter egg hunt with the kids. So, yes Easter Sunday is kinda a bad day to roll this out. Im not complaining, as I will catch the next one, but it is the way it is.
Jeff, thanks for putting it on the Tube, I will watch it.

I missed this, but that is a very good idea eventually to make some webinars as we from abroad may not be able to come to Chickasha nor Hersey evey year to say hello to fellow members of MTFCA.
I'll take a look on the Youtube dump of the session.

You can please some of the people all the time all the people some of the time but you'll never please all of the people all the time. Great job guys didn't catch it live but did catch it on YouTube keep up the good work.
