Or maybe a hole for battery cables where a battery box once had been? I see if other modifications too. Five lug demountable rims wheel on the front and four lug on the rear.

It is a 1917 coupelet.
There were two versions in the 1917 model year:
- first version with the folding top, like 1916, as shown in the photo
- second version with the stationary top that was padded to the belt line and removable window pillars

Notice in the first picture that of the three kids on the fender, the one on the right is hanging on where there is a break in the fender (typical location for a break too).

With dial-up, photos take a long time to download. The last pic finally came in. Interesting that the body paint is still shiny enough to reflect the kid on the running board, but the fenders are somewhat beat up. Looks like the front wheel is a Firestone accessory wheel. I think the dark spot in the splash apron is maybe a running board light? They were popular for a while, and a stylish car like this would be a good choice to have them.
