A Most Unusual Coil Box Lid

A friend found this in his Pile-O-Parts.
Apparently the mechanism hooks onto the coil points to prevent them from working.
When locked, the lid is not removable.

THANK YOU BOB, THAT ITEM IS VERY INTERESTING INDEED, NO WAY AROUND THAT, BUT, WHATS TO PREVENT FROM KUST REMOVING THE COVER, HOW IS IT HELD IN PLACE, I WOULS SAY THAT IS VERY RARE, GREG.

Nice find Bob.
That locking lid was first adv. in Jan 1920, can't find much info after that time, as an economic downturn happened after that time, so $8 was a lot for a lock!
Probably only a few were sold. The company made more of the locking switch covers for the switch on coil box earlier years, then, when Ford put the switch on the dash, guess they felt folks would buy this new cover to theft proof their T......

I hope nobody actually tries to use this thing and then wonders why the coils don’t hold their adjustment! I’m sure the mechanism disturbs the spring tension to a certain degree.
