I am guessing the strap goes over the tank and through the bracket holes on a 1912 Torpedo roadster.
The strap does not fit over the tank. I believe by the worn threads that the straps are original. The tank might be a repo.
The one picture shows the strap lifted high over the tank. The other picture shows the end about an inch off the deck.
Anyone with thoughts, ideas or suggestions?
Thank you in advance.
Bob

Re: 1912 Torpedo gas tank strap question
Hello Bob:
Could be that your straps are early parts, but not Ford 1912 Torpedo parts. Steel strap length can be inexpensively increased or decreased as needed by simple cutting, welding, and finishing. If at some date in the future, you determine the alteration needs to be reversed....same process. I am assuming that your tank diameter properly fits this cradle and that this cradle is correct for this car? Were you to adjust these parts as described, only you know will ever know these parts are not original to this car.
Regards,
Scott

Re: 1912 Torpedo gas tank strap question
Thank you Scott for helping me. I did not think these can be lengthened. I will go to my welding guy and see what he can do.
There is a friend in the club who has the same car. I will check out his 12 torpedo and see if he has an extra strap when he gets back in town.
