More "modern" steering column

Hey guys. So I've started assembling a 27 roadster gowjob/speedster. The T motor is just about squared away. I'm looking at setting up steering soon. Pop has a couple T columns, but also some A columns. I'm playing with the idea of a 30s Ford steering column to give a less sensitive steering for speedster speeds. Can one use an A column? I believe I heard once as well that a later 30s Ford column also fits in nicely.

You can search for mine I started building, or look on the HAMB forum Model T Gow Job. I too am running an A box...the better '30-31 box. Link: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/thr ... b.1122709/

Interesting that the above pictures, that the end of the A box has been trimmed and turned down to fit in the clamping bracket, yet for some odd reason they still are running wedges on the clamping bracket. Really no need to do both.

David that is a nice clean job on installing. Chad, what do you mean by wedges?

Good looking setup. It looks like I'd have to run the roadster with no sides of the hood though. Hmm, hadn't thought about that.

That lower strap steel bar is used to dissipate the pressure from the u-bolts equally so not to cause shear.

Hope this Helps,
