Homecoming in Richmond Cancelled

Post by SusanYaeger » Thu Apr 16, 2020 12:58 pm

After much consideration, we have decided to cancel Homecoming at the Model T Museum scheduled for June 6.

This is certainly a disappointment as we had great speakers and demonstrations lined up, swap meet, car show, and many fun, new activities. However, we believe it is the wise thing to do at this time. Without knowing how things will unfold over the next month – hopefully it will be all good – but the health and safety of our wonderful volunteers, members, vendors, and visitors are most important at this time.

Once the Museum is back open, we may be announcing some smaller events in July and August, depending on how we see people’s comfort levels for travel and gathering grow.

We appreciate your understanding. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Be well.

Sad to hear this but I think it was a good move to help keep everyone safe. There will come another time when we can all get together again. But I need to know ... Will I get a refund on my free parking spot in the parking lot?

The lack of widespread testing will mean we stay grounded for a long time. Or we can declare victory and go "normal" without it and suffer the consequences warned about by epidemiologists. With a widely available vaccine still estimated to be at least several months away, it will be a nice surprise if we can emerge from our dens anytime this year.
The inevitable often happens.

What about having the presenters virtually with the platform we used Sunday?

Susan:

Are the cancelled/postponed museum events noted on the home page? It appears the homecoming announcement on the home page does not mention cancellation.

Sorry to be a pain, I know you have plenty to do without people like me suggesting things. Thanks for all you do for our Model
T community, stay safe. jb

Gary, yes the webinar platform will allow us to make some of those presentations.

James, we are working on a new website and when that is up we will make sure everything is updated.

Thanks Susan, Chris and all those folks who volunteer! We look forward to when we can safely have large meetings again and especially T meetings! Many of us are in one or more of the higher risk categories and I still have lots more work I need to get done on the T.

The webinars sound interesting. The Experimental Aircraft Association puts several of those on and they can be very helpful.

Respectfully submitted,
