2 dozen bottles of wine later
I’ve been working on rebuilding a couple of clutches for a era accessory 3 speed sliding gear transmission for the model T.
In the last couple of days I finished rebuilding the cork inserted clutch discs The corks installed the cork pressing “funnel”

Re: 2 dozen bottles of wine later
There are 36 inserts per disc and I got 3 from each wine bottle cork and did 2 discs, so 24 bottles of wine NEEDED to be consumed!!

Les, you haven't told us how many extras you went through that had composite corks which you couldn't use.

Re: 2 dozen bottles of wine later
Actually ALL the corks are from the same brand of wine which is our favorite source for red wine. “Fairview Estates” in British Columbia Canada. So no problem on the quality side. We have been buying a couple of cases of this wine every year for probably close to 20 years

Re: 2 dozen bottles of wine later
You are lucky to be able to find them still Les. Even the high end brands are going over to Stelvin screw closures these days. They are far more reliable, cheaper and protect the contents better. It has taken the purists to a long time to accept. A bit like Scandinavia band users coming around to the advantages of Kevlar!

Kevlar bands have certainly increased the sales of new low and reverse drums. I like and use Kevlar on only the transmission brake drum.
I store my wine bottles in a semi inverted position in my wine cellar. Some of them are now 15 years old and are very “smooth” I find that generally “you pay for what you get”!!
