Where are you running your spark lever? Sounds like timing may be retarded some how.

The usual suspects are either the spark is too retarded or the carburetor mixture is too lean, or a little of both.

At low idle 1/8 to 1/4 on the spark rod adjust carb rich to lean then back to good idle just sitting with the garage fan on at high speed, manifold Cherie red! Driving 3/4 to 1/2 on the throttle 1/2 to 3/4 on the spark, no intake or exhaust leak at 1/2 to 3/4 on the throttle, the carb whistles like it wants more air and fuel small 23 holley nh carb

It really doesn't matter where you "run the spark lever" if the timing is completely wrong, and it sounds like it may be completely wrong. I have never heard a T carb whistle that didn't have some sort of vacuum leak in the intake system. You really need to check both out as your car will not last long being run as it is, without requiring significant and expensive repairs.

Interesting that the question of coloured exhaust manifolds come up on occasion. May I suggest that a review of an training manual from WWII be reviewed. It may help with the manifold colours and the flames. (exhaust colour Allison V-1710)
