There was a discussion on the EFR (Early Ford Registry) forum maybe two years ago on the subject of NRS coupes. A couple era photos were discussed, including one or two of a runabout that had been converted to a coupe back in the day. Whether it was there or not, somewhere I read that someone has a small piece of an era coupe body believed to have been an NRS. Other than that, no original NRS coupes are known to exist today.

Imagine if we were all driving Weebermobiles today!

Wayne, not to hijack this Weeber thread, but some of the Ford coupe pics from previous articles. First, a 1907 Coupe version, appearing on a Model N chassis (step plate, not Model R running board), with both bodies included for $850:

Finally two different photos of Dr. Gayman’s Ford Coupe. The photos are taken on different dates, the Dr.’s office and signage has changed between pics:

So the term "Ford Doctor's Coupe" goes back as far as at least 1908.

The January 1, 1908 ad above is very interesting. Is the car on the upper right a Model S Touring rather than a Model T? It is labeled “Model T”, but is right hand drive, has a single lever and the crank appears to go through the radiator. Isn't there an existing Model S Touring that was restored a few years ago?

Dan,
Cecil Church (RIP) cloned an S/T touring years ago (about 1976). I believe it was on the cover of the Ford Times (could be wrong). I saw the car a few years ago, and it is a beautiful recreation. Ford Motor Company audit records indicate Ford produced three Model T and two Laund (laundelet/town car) during fiscal year 1907 (Oct 1, 1907 - Sep 30, 1908). There are are photos out there of what looks like a Model S town car with Model T style radiator. News reports from late 1907 indicate FMC showed a prototype Model T during the Detroit Auto Show (at it’s branch store). The 1908 loss/gain audit lists two Model T sold, and one Laundaulet (their spelling, not mine).


On another page of the audit, production records indicate three Model T and two “Laund” were produced (as well as 67 S coupes):

My guess is, as the ad below reports, this “prototype” Model T had a 20-24 hp motor, but that it was an NRS style motor, possibly indicated by the NRS style radiator waterpump, but with a taller radiator tank similar to the future Model T.
