Ignorance is Bliss or Is this big trouble in little pieces??
On an other thread they are talking about the oil screen so I thought I would check mine while doing some spring maintenance and whoopteedo look what I found. Most pieces are straight but a couple are bent or curved, all pieces end to end about six inches and about 1/4" wide by 3/32" thick all look to be well worn they appear to be steel not cast. I have a dizzy and the car has been running quite well in fact Saturday put almost fifty miles on her. No recent noises that I could hear but that not saying much with my hearing.I should add that I have not checked this oil screen in a couple of years. OK let the diagnosis begin. Jim

Not sure what parts those pieces are from, but you win the all-time award for least panicked.

? Looks like maybe the hardened steel clutch guides that were used inside the brake drum '25 through '27? Have to carefully check the sizes to know. It would take about three or four of the six to come out and create that much debris.

Looking closely at the length and the number of dents in it, I'd say you a '25-27 T and have broken a number of brake drum clutch disk shoes.
Bad news.

You guys called it right I would have to say, I dug out a spare shoe for comparison and I think we have a winner or for me a loser. Looks like a teardown for me. Rats! The wide pieces must still be held in place with the divot. Thanks fellas I couldn't imagine what they were till you showed me the light. Jim

I had the same thing happen in my 26 coupe. The broken pieces destroyed my rebuilt mag coil.

Failed transmission clutch drum lug shoe failure has a long history and resulted from lug shoes being formed of metal with the grain structure running parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shoe as opposed to perpendicular.
