How hard are good used 5 hole large brake drums to come by or trade for?
Can 6 hole drums be redrilled to fit?

You would not be the first to drill brake drums for the opposite pattern. Be aware that the original wire wheel brake drums had a raised tab alongside the stud holes to lock the studs from rotating. You will probably be using splined, press in studs so the tab would not be necessary or you could simply put a small weld on the stud to lock it in. You will also have one hole that overlaps one of the previous holes. This will be problematic if you intend to “drill” the new holes, but the old hole could be welded up prior to drilling the new hole to make life easier
