Great photos all. I particularly like the 3rd on with the girl and Hotel Cabrillo in the background. I thought I'd be smart and search out "Hotel Cabrillo" to see where it's located. Too bad. There are dozens of them and I couldn't find one that looks like the one in the photo.
Thanks for posting!!

Ref. the sign shown in the first photo,.....what do you suppose "Free Crank Case Service" consisted of?

Apparently a Texaco thing from the signs for sale.

Hmmm,.....nowadays, the high school auditorium has become the "Performing Arts Center". and the library has become the "Learning Resource Center". So, maybe they did the same kinda' thing back then, huh? I'd like to think that "Free Crank Case Service" was an oil change, but then again, maybe it was just a matter of checking your oil level and selling you a quart of oil (whether you needed it or not)! Well into the '50's and '60's, when gas station attendants still checked your oil level as part of their routine when filling your gas tank, unscrupulous gas stations would routinely "short-stick" you and sell you a quart of oil that you really didn't need! (....that would indeed make "free crank case service" not exactly free, right? Some things never seem to change,....FWIW,.....harold

Photo #3 looks like a California plate with the star tag.
