Gents,

I have put a starter in a '14 and am trying to decide where to put the foot switch. I'd like to know, where was it in a '19? Maybe X inches between the switch and wall under the seat. anybody able to make a measurement?

If it were me, I would use a solenoid with hidden button and not cut a hole in the heel board.

I second what Mark said....I have inadvertently hit the starter switch on my cars....WHILE the engine was running.. (big feet!)

Someday on my 21 hack I am going to do this. Were the switch is located stock and how I built the body makes it a real pain to use.

With a 14, why use a foot switch? You can easily use a small momentary push button to activate a solenoid. It’s an easy, clean way to operate the starter. I painted my switch to match the body. Nobody has ever asked what it is for, most people never notice it. Because I drilled it through wood I could, if I wanted to, remove it, glue a dowel in the hole, and repaint the area and nobody would ever know.

I mounted the solenoid just behind where the brake lever crosses the frame rails. I just made a bracket for it that uses the same bolt holes as the hand brake assembly so I didn’t have to drill my frame.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the comments, I was starting with the assumption that the location of the seat relative to the frame might be different for some years and body styles so a measurement from the heel board to the switch might give me Henry's opinion on where the switch is best functional and not in the way when driving.

Being's that a '14 wasn't available with a starter from the factory, a solenoid & remote switch would remove any chance of accidently stepping on the floor mounted switch and possibly causing flywheel damage (if already running) or if left in high gear could result in the car lurching forward !
