I've been working on oil leaks on my 1915 touring. Today I drove around with the floorboards off and noticed excessive movement at the u-joint connection (I call it a ball and socket) do I need to add the aftermarket shim? Can I adjust the radius rods to help this? Thanks, bobt

Install a shim - the torque tube ball has excessive wear.

No gasket between the retaining ring and the ball, but there is a gasket between the 4th main and the hogshead.
Yup, you can put a shim between the ring and the ball. Be sure it doesn't bind when you're done.
