6 Volt Battery Cap
I was checking the water in my 6 volt battery. I placed one of the screw-off caps somewhere and for the life of me can’t find it after searching, searching, and more searching. So, now I’m tired of looking and just want to buy a new cap. My local auto store looked strangely at me and even questioned putting water in a battery - geez!
I looked online and don’t see a place. Any suggestions on where I can get a replacement cap without buying a whole new battery?
Thanks!

Re: 6 Volt Battery Cap
You may check with local stores that sell batteries. If you know somebody even better. They may have old batteries you could get a cap from.

Re: 6 Volt Battery Cap
Go to a local battery supplier, auto parts store or farm supply store and see if they will give you a cap off of an old battery. They usually have them in the back of the store somewhere to be picked up by somebody. Some salvage yards buy old batteries. Also ask them for a cap. They would probably let you take a look.

Re: 6 Volt Battery Cap
When you go to those places to ask about a cap, go in the Model T and make sure they see it. That will change most people's reaction from (yawn) to (what can we do to help?)

Re: 6 Volt Battery Cap
When you say, "screw-off cap", I hope you're not saying you have one of the reproduction Ford script 6 Volt batteries? You'll be very lucky to find a cap to fit an original or a reproduction of an original Ford battery.Sjschmidtky wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 5:38 pmI was checking the water in my 6 volt battery. Re: 6 Volt Battery Cap
No, not an original battery. Bought it at Tractor Supply. I called them and said they didn’t have any to offer for sale. I asked about one from a returned battery, again a “no”.

I added a post on Parts for an Original Ford Script Cap that is for sale on eBay
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Re: 6 Volt Battery Cap
Hope it’s the same size cap. Older batteries had larger caps than the newer batteries like the
ones sold at TSC and other places in the last few years.

Hells Bells it ain't nothing more then a postage stamp to send a battery cap.
I'll put it in tomorrows mail and hopefully it will work for you.
