The Kingston L4 Cork Purpose

Post by J1MGOLDEN » Sat Jun 06, 2020 2:12 pm

Would someone please explain the purpose of that Kingston L4 small cork above the flapper valve?

What is the purpose of the Flapper Valve?

Would there be any noticeable effect if that cork was missing and the flapper valve was there in good condition??

The cork is there to act as a bumper to keep the flap from hitting the roof of the passage. No it should not hurt if the bumper is missing but might damage the top of same over time.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

My understanding of the L4 flapper is it directs air flow through an idle circuit until airflow increases. Increased air flow opens the flapper to allow full air movement.

The idle circuit is down around the spray needle. I was going to post the a link that showed the flow, but the illustration only shows the flap up at driving speeds, not the idle circuit.
