Post by Dan Hatch » Mon Jun 08, 2020 12:01 pm

Guys: Question, will dome pistons clear a low (early) head?
Thanks Dan

You will have to do some impression work with real soft clay Dan. Some will and some will not. I have had to in the past, machine down the pistons to get them right.

I run that combination in my 13. I did check carefully for clearance with NO head gasket!!
I was lucky in that the block and head didn’t need much surfacing

I've done this in 4 engines. Only one needed a little flap disking in one cylinder for the head to lie flat on the block without a gasket. I haven't tried a 09-10 head, but my '11 is runnung an early 11 head with this. The other heads have been in the '14 and up variety.

Mine does... I'm running an earlier head (early '12) than motor (late '15) as the original head keeps developing cracks... but both cleared the pistons no problem!
