Today Was The Best Day

Ir’en’ee du Pont, Jr. Is (100) years old.

Ir’en’ee du Pont, Jr. met us down at his garage in his 1980 Chevette that he bought new:


This Model T Touring is part of his collection:


But the car I hoped to ask him about ...

His 1936 Oldsmobile given to him by
His father on his 16th birthday on
Christmas Eve ....

I had first learned of this car and of
Ir’en’ee du Pont, Jr. several years earlier
when I visited Louis Ivan Mandich Jr.
at Last Chance Garage in Unionville, PA.

Jim, as a quick side note, you can make accents on a Windows-based computer by holding down the Alt key and typing 130. That way, you get - for example - Irénée du Pont. (I'm sure you can do it on a Mac as well, but I don't know how.)

Jim, it's even easier on the iPhone. Hold your finger on the e, then slide your finger to the right and you get all the choices of e plus accents. Stop at the one you want and release your finger.
