I'm re-doing my 1917 Touring's upholstery. Since I had the panels off the doors and driver's compartment I called my local "Paintless Dent Removal" guy and had him remove many of the dings that my car has accumulated over the last century. He even took a nasty crease out of my hood. The "guy" worked for about three hours and the results were fantastic.
If you've never used the services of one of these specialists I can tell you that their work is as represented. Dents removed and original paint left intact.

Tim, that’s good news indeed. I wondered about the ability of those who practice this craft to deal with old iron, a couple of armchair opinions indicated it wouldn’t work on our antiques since panels on the new cars are so much thinner, and tempered. Useful testimony! Thanks for posting.

The "Dent Guy" worked on six panels, doors, exterior body, seat backs and hood. All were dings except the hood which had a foot-long crease. All were removed and I swear you can't tell they were ever there. He even worked on a spot that someone in the distant past had tried to repair with lead and removed it too. He was banging away for over three hours but never complained that the steel was any harder to work on than modern vehicles.

A long time Mopar friend of mine has operated a paintless dent repair business for decades. He has a rack of tools and loads of patience, but he can work wonders. Dealers pay him big money to tap the dents out of their inventory after a hailstorm.
