A/C brake linkage instructions

Post by Jerry Young » Tue Jun 16, 2020 4:03 pm

Does anyone have a copy of Rich Bauman's ac brake linkage instructions/pictures? Rich is sending me a set in the mail, however I was going to install my brakes tomorrow as I have a mini tour on Saturday. If someone has instructions, please email to me @ jyoung@aristotle.net.
Thanks
Jerry
P.S. You won't be disappointed with the service both Larry Sidmore and Rich provide, they are both great guys!!!

How did you make out with the A/C brake linkage installation?
I have the brake system too. Health reasons has put it on the back burner.
I realize it's late for me to be offering but if you still haven't received the instructions I can email.
Take care and be safe

Jerry how is the fine tuning going?
I have a brand new set on my 13 speedster and am having difficulty getting them set up.
Seems I need them set very close to the drum and am worried about heating up the brakes.
With the virus thing have not really put any miles on.
Any help or insight is appreciated
Cheers pete

Pete, still tinkering with mine as well, received pictures and notes from Rich, need to redo some things but the brakes are working pretty good. I'll post some more info as I work things out.

Peter, got the brakes working great!! You just have to keep tweaking them a little at a time, getting slack out of the connections (so they don't rattle) and be sure they don't drag. I adjusted my transmission brake to come on just after the AC's and have good stopping results. Rich and Larry are great to work with and very helpful, all you have to do is ask them!

AC brakes used a cable, just like Rocky Mountains do. I realize the modern replacements use rods, but that is not correct. The current Rocky Mountain brakes use a pedal and equalizer from a Bennett brake which is not correct, nor is the extension on the brake pedal correct either.
