Fitting new glass

Post by paul hoogendoorn » Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:32 am

I am about to embark on fitting new glass to my 22 Runabout, the current glass appears to be normal plate glass and I want to replace it with safety glass. Can someone explain to me how the glass clamps attach to the filler blocks. On my car they are glued on and it appears that the screws have broken off. I notice that there are no less than 4 different types of screws that fit in there according to the Chaffins catalogue. Which one is correct and what are the thread specs? Anyone have a drawing how it all fits together?

The filler blocks are tapped and threaded in the ends for the flat head machine screw that holds the clamps. Sounds like the easiest thing for you to do would be either to replace the filler blocks or remove and re-drill and re-tap the ones you have.

I see you have 2 threads going. Some of us responded to this one:

When did I do that?
