WHEN REPLACING NON REMOVABLE LINK BANDS WITH REMOVABLE LINK BANDS WITCH SIDE WILL THE LINK GO--PASS-OR-DRIVER, THIS IS A FIRST FOR ME. TKS,

It’s the Drivers side in Australia too! (it’s always the side where the Pedals are)
No point in going to detachable Ear Bands if you don’t have the 26/27 Pigs Head to withdraw them?

Yes you shure can install these bands in a 21. Any starter year T can use these detachable ear bands. Earlier engines do not have clearance in the hogs head.

Every time I install new bands I always begin to wonder how did I do this before! After it finally gets done in about a day, (I’m slow) I realize that if I was to do it again soon after it wouldn’t take near as long as it did this time.
Bet the T mechanics back in the teens thru the 40’s could do it in less than 1-2 hrs. Practice makes perfect or almost!

Time studies in the Service Manual allow 53 minutes for old-style bands, 40 for new style. If I can do it in one day next time I'll figure I'm pretty fast.Bet the T mechanics back in the teens thru the 40’s could do it in less than 1-2 hrs.

Yes I’ve read the time studies in the manual and years ago when I bought the manual I scratched my head and wondered if those guys really could do some of the jobs and especially replacing the bands in the times given. I was in my early 20’s when I first got it and thought it had all the answers. Most but not quite I soon found out.
This has been brought up before and I still wonder how they timed the mechanics. Keeping up that kind of pace in the shops would be hectic. An hour or less removing the bands, bradding on new ones then reinstalling would have to be an ideal situation in my limited mind even when fairly young and being pliable body wise! And having to removing the transmission cover would be another story!

I replaced the brake band on my 26 and I fought with it for a couple of hours, after I finished I was wondering what that clasp was on top?
