Well here in SUNNY California we were blessed to be advised by the weather man that we may a dusting of snow- well last night
the 12th of February it started snowing. Well by 4 am the 13th we had a good ground cover. By 8:30 an we had inmy front yard7 1/2 inches- doggone a bit late for Christmas

Dang Bill Ya'll got some thick dust out there, we just got a little rain and dropped down to the 50's....Now where did I put that jacket. act like you are a kid again and throw a few snow balls.

I just got back from HD. 49* F here, no problems, but those gusts of wind did remind me it was cold out.

This morning at 3:00 a.m. I went to the gym in my speedster 37* F. Heavy coat, wool cap, and a "sock scarf". That sock scarf is great in the cold, not only does it keep my neck warm, but it pulls up over the cheeks and under the eyes. My lower limit used to be 40*, but I can go lower comfortably now.

We are having an unseasonably warm February, and I am loving it. I don't know how you guys north of here make it through the winter.

We're having 60 deg for today and Thurs. Then temps will drop and the prediction is for 1 to 3 inches of snow Fri and Saturday .
Below normal temps for next week.

Sounds wonderful. Yesterday we had a light dusting of about 5.5 inches. Its about the 3rd dusting like that this month, and February is normally a light snow month. Can't wait for March/April, when the heaviest snows arrive.

That's the reason why "Global Warming" was changed to "Climate Change". Therefore whatever we do, we are guilty! I am old enough to know that these weather variations have been going on for over 100 years, and previous generations had variations in weather too! This is nothing new. In January 1949 we had about a foot of snow in Los Angeles which lasted 3 days.

Here we have not been colder than usual, but have had more cold days than usual. However in our back yard many flowers are blooming and it looks like spring. It just doesn't feel like it. We have also had more than average rain this season. This all averages out with the extra dry weather last two years. It has been this way all my life and I have lived in southern California for over 80 years.

Here is a picture of the snow in Montrose Ca which is 15 miles north of downtown Los Angeles January 1949. That is me getting a snowball!

We had over 46 Celsius here in sunny Adelaide South Australia last week, that around 116 Fahrenheit in the shade. Hottest day on record. Man that's hot, trade you any day. Enjoy the cool weather.

Norm, more probably for over 100 million years.

I remember the the 1960s and 1970s in New York growing up. We had some heavy snow storms which was normal and they were just dealt with. Then at some point the winter weather became milder. People became used to it and memories fade of what winter is supposed to be. Now when there is snow up in the Poconos, which is a ski resort area people have fits when there is heavy snow. More than likely they bought there homes during the mild winters when the ski resorts were going out of business.

When I was in school (70s) the "climate change" of the hour was, we were heading for another ice age...
We got SNOW around here then. I remember 76 & 78, we had a couple blizzards. 1.5'-2' with 4'-5' drifts !! One of those years, they delivered mail, after a few days...in a half track.

Climate changes...always has, always will.

I remember the coming ice age scare of the ’70’s as well.

The folks in the area around where I grew up in southern Idaho would often reminisce about the winter of 1948-1949 with tales of snow drifts up to the eves of barns, high as hay stacks etc.

Climate changes...always has, always will.

I grew up in Brook Park & remember 76,77,78 winters. I was in high school at the time, we had 5 days off in a row which back then was unbelievable. Nowadays if a bird farts above a school, they close it!

76, I was still in JR high & rode the bus, schools hardly ever closed. I can remember a couple of times a bunch of us guys had to get out & push the bus when it got stuck in the snow. These days people would be having heart attacks & filing law suits if this happened!

Steve reminded me of walking to school the day of the snow. My dad drove me to school slipping and sliding on ice without chains. I stood in front of the school with other kids who had arrived and the principal came out and said that school was cancelled for the day! I walked home about 2 miles in the snow and looked like a snowman when I arrived home! My usual transportation to and from school was on my bicycle.

We're not in Siberia with our 'Frozen Tundra', but we just deal with it! Yeah, I can remember 'some' of those days too. We conveniently forget or conveniently remember the comforts of building a fire or having a high-efficiency furnace or a Modine for the shop. Doubtful any of us will be around for the next Ice Age, or for our Sun to consume itself and explode.... "We are temporary guests here. Celebrate life and living, then enjoy it as we go!"
PS: I wouldn't trade "God's Fly-Over Country" for any of the humidity, heat, or mania found elsewhere!

Once again, we didn't get no snow. I'm okay with that.

Today peoples are just mamby pambys. Back in my day we walked to school in the snow, it was always open. And despite having to put cardboard in our shoes to keep the snow from coming in the holes, we trudged on. The wind was always in our face, it didn't matter which way we were going, and it was always uphill. Those days were better, we were tougher and are better people because of it, the world is going to hell in a handbasket, etc. etc.


Whine, whine, carp and complain, etc. etc. ,,, oh and did I forget our generation is better than the young folks coming along?

After last year which was one of the driest in history and many fires during the summer and fall, this year has so far been one of the wettest! We have already had over 2 inches today and they are predicting the heaviest of the storm later this evening. I have meeting to attend at 3:00 PM. I will see if our gravel road is still there in about an hour. Yesterday there was a big mud hole with a big bump and I haven't been out yet today.

I think we are already over our average annual rainfall, and there is still over a month of the rainy season to go!
