I have owned PARTS for mine for over 50 years ... the purple headlight lenses, other rusty tidbits,
but it took until 5 or so years ago to actually buy the vehicle to put them on, even though it was the
reason I saved the parts. I am a little slow that way ...

I've "owned" it since 2001. However, I claim rights since my first ride in it, which was when I was one year old in 1948. Or, I could date it as of the first time I drove it in 1957, when I killed the engine and got "the look" from my grandfather....

Two weeks.

I bought my 1926 Model T coupe when I was 15 years old in 1962, I drove it for my driving test to get my drivers license, drove in high school. Was going to going the Navy in late 65, didn't really have a place to store it so took it completely apart and stored the pieces in my folks garage. When they moved in 78 brought it down to Va Beach started working on it a little (had the engine rebuilt) then in 84, moved it to the mans of Va where it has sat for over 30 years decided a couple years ago to fix it up and get it going , so I can get some enjoyment from it before I die and show m son how to drive it as he's going to get when I'm gone. Right now I'm working on the chassis the body is completely done. A guy 1/4 mile up the road restores MOPAR Mussle Car and known as the best East of the Mississippi. So he finished it this summer, I told him not to get crazy, I'll have way more in that car than it's worth but it's the senemital value. So I guess the answer is 57 years and counting.

I received my speedster from my grandfather in 1968. At that point in time it had a cut down touring body and wooden box. Wish that I still had that body!

I've had other cars over the years, V8, Model A and a 1941 Packard 110 Sedan, they're all gone now.
I kept the car I began with...the 1922 Touring that I've had since 1978, and I really don't have any intentions of getting any other cars, unless it is a Murray bodied Model A Town Car.

I found a 1918 Ford touring with half the body gone in 1963 when I was 14 and the guy wanted $150. Dad and I each came up with $75 and went to get it. The seller told me it had been sold, and I told him I thought we had a deal for $150. Early life lesson 1 - it ain't yours till you put money down. The seller called a few days later to tell me that he car was again available. Lesson #2 - Money talks. I found later that he had made a deal with a guy for $100 and backed out of that to take my $150 - a 50% increase! I rebuilt the car in high school and still have it, along with a 22 Center Door (3 years) and a speedster under construction.

This was on my sons wedding day, I delivered the bride and her party in it, I have owned it for 60 years and the third owner. It does need some work though.

How about 60 years? I used to know how to attach a photo with the old forum, but don't see any way to do it with this one!

I've had my '26 for a little over one year but she's been in the family at least since 1935 when Katie, my grandmother's sister, and Elmer owned her.

We have had our 1926 Fordor since 2005.

My 1923 Coupe was bought new by my great uncle, so i got it in the late 60's

Our '15 touring has been in the family since new. Bought in Blanchard Michigan by my GG Grandfather Thomas Hill in July of 1915

Here is the photo I couldn't add yesterday. I bought the car in 1961. I was used as a farm vehicle until 1940. I was 18 when I bought it. It took me four years to restore it before going on active duty in the Navy. I still own the car with over 55,000 miles, and one broken crankshaft. I just went on a 550 mile tour with it last summer. It is also pictured in Bruce McCalley's black book.

I guess my 1968 beetle now qualifies as old iron. It's the only car I ever bought new.

My first T is a 26 RP project I bought about 25 years ago. It's scattered around in the barn awaiting the day when I have time for it.


My first running and driveable T is the 1923 touring I bought in 2008.

I think my dad bought my car in the 50s and had it driveable about 58-59.
Mom has dementia and bro and sis are not positive. I believe he did the upholstery on the seats about 62-62.
I was born in 64. I tinkered for the last 15 years, but actually took possession last summer and gave it a good refresher.

OT, I've had my 73 Gran Torino since 1985.

Well, I hate to embarrass Darel again but when I was a kid we read Hemmings Motor news and J. C. Whitney like some kids read Batman and Superman. Darel was one of my heroes being on the back cover of HMN. I was ecstatic when I saw him here on the forum.

and the 48 F2 has been in the family from new but I have had it about 3-4 years. Every car or truck I have had has been old iron and that would be a long list.

[image][/image]I retrieved my 23 runabout from a rock pile in Hamburg, Wisconsin, in 1945. I guess that makes it 74 years ago. I wore it out when I was a kid so I brought it home to Sacramento and revived it. It runs great!

Darel and my father attended Minneapolis Washburn High School. They were in the same homeroom - the "Sound Crew" which served as both the A/V and stage crew.

Darel and my dad are standing next to each other (back row, second and third from left) in this 1949 Washburn "Wahian" yearbook page. My dad was a senior (he graduated in 1949 at age 17). Darel was a junior.

Darel bought his first Model T in 1946 (the 1910 touring that he still owns) but my dad didn't buy his first T until 1948.

Second photo is of the same two "Washburn Millers" taken in May 2010, at the 100th birthday party for Darel's Ford touring - my dad left, Darel right.

On a side note: Royce Peterson's dad, Royce D. Peterson, lived near Washburn High School and my dad would occasionally stop by his house on his way home from school. Royce was in his early thirties at the time.

I bought my first old iron a 24 Dodge Brothers screen side when I was 14 in 1969 and then the Model A pick up in 1971, I have been driving the A since 1973, Haven't driven since yesterday. I started with T's about 1995

Darel, You must be older than dirt! You probably knew Christ when he was an alter boy! Hahaha, congratulations with the up-most respect. Dad was born in 1932 and still drives his Model T. He had a 27 RPU before mom and him were married. He sold it when I was trying to get it going in 1966,I was 10. My friend now owns it and some day who knows. Dad and I both have Model T's now, but haven't owned them very long. We have a Guy, Harold Mann, in our club that just turned 90, he still drives his T's and is the Guy that keeps the club going. I'm not sure how long he has had Model T's. Wonderful stories, Thanks.

My father got our 1925 Touring in 1952. It has been mine since 1986. About the only thing that you see different in the photo since 1952 are the tires and the top.

I know someone (W.M.) here in Louisiana who drove his grandfather's T in the 1930's as a teen and still has possession of it.

I took possession of my 16 coupelet July 2012 and titled it finally December 2018 but it's been in our family since 1953. My eleven touring I took ownership July 2016, it also has been in our family since 1953.

This thread reminds me of how long the generations are in my family...here's what my grandfather, born in 1884, grew up driving. My great grandfather (1836 - 1906) is driving in this photo, taken sometime after 1890 when my great grandfather built the house in the background as a wedding gift for his eldest daughter:
I was told my grandfather bought and wrecked an Orient Buckboard and then bought a Model T in 1909; and supposedly continued to drive Model Ts until the mid-1940s

My dad and one of his brothers were partners in a small-time building contracting business, another brother did earthwork and demolition, and yet another was a building mover. One of the things they all had in common was the ability to take someone else's worn out equipment and squeeze a couple more jobs out of it...so I grew up working with them and helping to run more than my share of old iron into the ground. When a piece of equipment was completely run out, Dad used to declare: "Its time to jack up the radiator cap and put another machine under it!"

Anyway now that I'm retired I'm playing with my '26 Model T (since 2016), plus (from my own generation) a Deere 420 dozer (since last October), an '89 Dodge Ramcharger (since 2014), and a '94 Harley (since 2013)

I still have two TT hubcaps that I bought for my first TT from an add in Hemmings in 1964 as NOS. When I got them, they were very pitted, I was very disapointed. I have kept them since then and had them replated in the mid '90's. That's about as close as I can come other than a few pictures in '64. Been having fun with T's ever since. Dave

I have owned my T for 2 years but Dad owned it for 56 years before me Dad also owned his 47 Chrysler for 58 years I have owned my 66 Barracuda for 43 years. The 42 Jeep and the 47 Chrysler sedan where cars Dad and I worked on in the last 20 years My Barracuda is under going re- restoration

This is a test to see if i have figured out how to attach photos.
The picture of me backing up the T on a long plank was taken in 1958, my senior year in high school. I had bought the T the previous fall.
My dad bought the VW new in the fall of 1973, and it became mine when he died over 40 years ago.
The Jag I bought in 1989.

Bought my 54 Ford in 1985 when I was 16. It had very low mileage but I cured that problem by putting over 70K miles on it by the time I retired it after the stateside portion of my stint in the military. It was briefly revived to drive away from my wedding 25 years ago. I revived it recently and am still enjoying it.

My F100 I bought about ten years ago and my Model T two years ago.

Jack, your profile says you're in New Brunswick. My grandfather was born in North Darby NB in October 1880. His family moved to Charlottetown PEI soon after and that's where he grew up. He did attend Mount Allison, though. He was at Queens in Kingston when he met and married a Kingston girl whose roots were in Ontario. The Lodges were all from the Maritimes, though. The town cemetery in Mapleton NS has more Lodges than I have ever seen in one cemetery.

My Great Grandfather bought this 1928 Pontiac new in 1929, must have got a deal from the dealer to get rid of last years car. later got converted to a flatbed for the farm now I'm the fourth owner in 90 years. Also the '14 T my Dad pulled out a barn that had burned down about 1958 so 60 years on that one. BTW glad to be a new member of the forum.

I grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, as did both my parents and paternal grandparents; my maternal grandfather was from Eden (Bar Harbor), Maine and maternal grandmother was from Minot, Maine. Cape Elizabeth's claim to fame used to be the longest growing season in Maine due to the ocean influence, but I grew up there during the 50s and 60s when suburbanization was in full swing...they say the last crop on any piece of land is a house. I'm an industrial electrician and worked on the road from 1978 - 1992 for a couple of Maine-based mechanical contractors which did pipeline, bulk oil plant, and industrial boiler work; in that time I was "homeless", covering a triangular-shaped territory with corners at Madawaska, ME, Toledo, OH, and Chesapeake, VA...long story short, I wound up in the Yukon in 2007 when pay rates in the US were dismal and jobs non-existent, and became a New Brunswick resident when I retired in 2013. But my North American roots are in the District of Maine.

Wayne...I love your Plymouth. Two-door post cars are my favorite post-war cars. Lots of average people had them. They got used up and thrown away most of the time or sacrificed their fenders, trim, frames, etc to save flashier cars, so there's not a lot of them around.

I get more response, smiles, etc from my current fleet of "everyman's" antique cars then I ever did with my top of the line, flashy cars.

Don, you may find it interesting that the Plymouth was originally a Houston, TX car, sold by Bryant Motors: I have a fondness for 1955 Plymouths as my parents had one when I was a child:
