I found this postcard years ago. It certainly looks as though it could be the fourth of July.

All parades are cancelled, but I suppose I could drive around town and make my own parade.

Yep, dress it up and just drive around town throwing firecrackers. Our parade is real small for a small town. We go through town and go around the building supply and back through town again. You have to ration the candy supply or you get some long faces from the kids on the second pass.

Busted, out of candy.

With a Model T, wherever you go you are your own parade, and wherever you stop you are your own car show.

No parade this year. Last year was her 1st parade and 1st in line. One pass and about 100lbs of candy.

Well John, either it's an old photo (July 1959 or before) or it's a more recent photo in which an old flag was used. That 48 star flag was replaced 61 years ago today when the 49th star was added for Alaska on July4, 1959. It didn't last long. One year later, July 4, 1960 the 50th star was added for Hawaii. And so it is to this day.

The village of Woodville, Ohio canceled their 4th of July parade. Our member Bill Rowles who lives there, helped arrange for a "substitute antique car tour" through town instead. Our club had 5 Model Ts and Maumee Valley Ts had 2 Ts & a model A. The village fire department lead the tour with their 1929 American LaFrance pumper. Beautiful truck.
Had plenty of happy onlookers! Was a great afternoon topped by lunch at the local diner.
Thanks Bill for lunch and a great tour.

Two Fords and a John Deere;
The 1948 is my family F2, the John Deere is my brothers and the 39 was about 3 miles from Mon and Dads all decked out. Yes July 4th, 2020 :D

Dallas, you have no idea how much it warms my old heart to see "our ;) " TT bringing smiles and joy to people, just as I had always wanted to do. I have to smile everytime I see you enjoying it. Thank you so much for taking on my project and finishing it in a way that I never could have. Dave

I watched the fireworks last night overlooking the Las Vegas Valley. I was amazed and very impressed and proud to see how many people were showing how patriotism. Never in my life have I seen so many fireworks at one time, and I grew up here. We did have a breakfast run.

To Hpetrino - Good eye! The flag belonged to my bride's grandfather and predates WW2. You can't see it, but the flags on the T are 48-star as well. The T flags are modern replicas, and I had a bit of a time finding them.
The photo was taken July 4, 2020.

To Twrenn - Those '29 American LaFrance pumpers must have been really good - the town of Millis, Massachusetts had one up to about 20 years ago and they had no plans to retire it - it was still in regular use. The state finally made them get rid of it because it didn't come anywhere close to modern safety standards. The town held an auction of the truck; someone later told me that they got more money for it then they paid for it. I don't know if that was in actual dollars or the present Value of 1929 dollars in about 2000, but whoever bought it got a gem. As it had been in regular use, it had always been maintained to fire department standards. It needed absolutely nothing. Drive it home and put it in the collection.

John, you're probly right about the LaFrance's. This one was really nice, sounded sweet.
Tim...I can't remember seeing that beautiful visible pump last time I was there...but then, it was a few years ago.
Sweet!

We were driving our 1931 standard roadster in the Afton MN "pickup parade" about 10 years ago. Any one could be in the parade. You just showed up and got in line. We knew someone in charge and we were always up front.

I really like the action shots and just found out how to grab a still off of a video. This is this years parade as we just circled the building supply and met the tail end float as we started the second pass. Quite a commotion with cars critters and floats.
