My favorite is "Which vehicle, we have a fleet of 6 patrol cars, 3 undercover units, 2 patrol motorcycles and a SWAT van..."

I received a call about my wife's car. This was a few years ago and it was about 4 or 5 years old.
They wanted to warranty the car. I said sure. I double checked. I said. "ok, you called me and want to warranty the car".
He was all fired up and had the sell. He asked about the mileage. My reply was 153,000 miles. Yes she drives the wheels off of it.
He said that he couldn't warranty the car. I argued with him. He called me and wanted to warranty the car. Had him on the line for 10-15 minutes.
He finally hung up.

No one has ever called me to offer me a car warranty, but I'm with Bud on this one. If anyone ever does call, Susanne's answer looks good to me! :D

If you have the time after answering one of these calls trying to help you with credit card debt. Just go with it, spend a bunch of time explaining $40,000.00
of balances on a half dozen cards. They are hoping you have room on a card to charge you for their service. They will spend a consideral amount of time on a call like this. About the time they ask you for your card number you tell them you're on your way to a car show. It's a 2 hour drive and it's fun to have someone to talk too. I learned new swear words!

We just traded in an 06 Buick for a new Subaru. I got a call from the people who want to sell me a warranty. I told him I have a 22 Model T Ford Roadster and he hung up.
Then a got a call from someone who said,"Hi Grandpa, this is your grandson". I asked him which one? He asked, "Don't you recognize my voice?" I asked him if he was Mike or Mark? He answered,"Mark". So I yelled at him and said, "You are a liar!!" Mark is dead. and I hung up.
Then someone called about my credit card and how they could give me a better interest rate. I said,"I don't care, I always pay off in full every month" And I hung up. Then someone called to say that my Apple computer had been hacked and that I should call a number to have it fixed. I don't have an Apple, i have a PC. Then I got a call from someone who said I had won a new pickup in a drawing in Las Vegas. So I said,"Send it to me" Next day I got another call which said it was impounded at the state line and I needed to send some money to get it out. So I said I already have a pickup so you can keep it. Then I got a call from someone who said I could have a free vacation in Florida if I attend a time share presentation. I said I prefer not to travel because of COVID and hung up.
Actually, once in a while I actually get a call from someone I want to talk to.

I have 25 numbers blocked on my cell phone, in less then one day I got 49 calls from the same blocked number. I had googled that number, you do not want to answer. It will take forever for them to stop calling. Sorry don't remember which one of the 25 blocked blocked it was. With my blocking, the number will show, but the phone does not ring.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

I have caller ID and I get a lot of spoofed calls with numbers that are supposedly from my town. I recently looked at the caller ID to discover that the call was from me! Someone spoofed my phone number and called me. I regret not answering that one.

JUST DON'T ANSWER

Post by Novice » Fri Jul 10, 2020 2:14 pm

Just don't answer unless You recognize the number or the voice of person or place leaving the message. If You answer a spam call it indicates that is a working number and they sell that information to other scammers. and if You hit the number they say will stop calls they really like that. now they know they have a LIVE ONE! and they still keep calling You. Must be a lot of MONEY in after market warranties and people being suckered in. I average 1 to 3 of them a day. I have nomorobo a free call screening service that stops a lot of spam calls. phone rings once and stops and I know they zapped it. still a lot get through. magic jack has a feature where the caller is given a recorded message that they must enter a 3 digit code on their phone to connect with you.

I must be living in a jaded world. I don't get a spam call on my cel phone once a week. We get a couple a day on the home landline phone, but seldom answer.
As for spam emails, I get none on several accounts - yahoo, gmail & live. Same thing on my ISP emails. I've had a yahoo account for maybe 20 years and get no spam.

I hope this post doesn't jinks it.
