I have what I believe is a set of 7 leaf short style rear u bolts, and 26-27 frame with a 8 leaf spring, I know the lengths are different between the two styles but are the inner diameter of the u bolts and the outside diameter of the 26-27 rear cross member different? I threw a caliper on the inside of the u bolts and threw the caliper on the outside of the rear cross member centerline of the u bolt alignment holes and am getting .050-.060 difference. Please point me in the right direction, I’m about to just use a bigger hammer hahaha.

For starters, that ubolt looks all kind of bent. If the dogleg was taken out of at least the one side, it might prove to be big enouth. What does it measure just at the top opening where legs become top?

Sometimes the clamps fit snug and a wood block and mallet is needed.

Those 2 styles . The 3833 is for the 8 leaf rear spring and has approx. 3 1/2" legs. The 9 leaf (sedan/runabout pickup) uses the 3833B which has approx. 4" legs.

There are two styles of 9 leaf U bolts. The newer style was used to accommodate the modified 26-7 frame, but still works.
