Eckler's???

Post by R.V.Anderson » Tue Jul 21, 2020 10:28 am

Has anyone tried contacting Eckler's this week or last? All I get are recordings; no one is answering any phone or responding to emails. Dialing any extension only gets a recording saying "The person at extension XXXX is not available."

???

Why would you deal with them in the first place? The people who answer the phone there know nothing about your car.

It isn't about my car, but when it dawned on me to check their website I learned through a "live chat" with a fellow named Bill that apparently it's the virus hysteria. The showroom is closed to the public and except for the shipping department, which is operating with a "socially distanced" skeleton staff (when you get your order, check it for damage; apparently they have to toss parts to each each other ;) ), everyone is working from home or has been laid off altogether.

I have been trying to get through to them for 2 months, on an issue with a 1927 Coupe headliner. I called so many times and waited so long on hold each time, that my cell phone provider bumped me up to the next data plan, (MORE MONEY!) because I burnt through all my telephone minutes.
I was more than a little irate. They wasted my time, and jacked up my phone charges, and I still haven't been able to contact anyone.
I sent them an E-mail, and no reply as usual.

I can imagine that the classic car industry of parts houses, auctions, restoration shops have slowed down in one way of another because of the COVID situation. Probably some more and some less depending on the state and hysteria some will have over it.

The Ecklers folks continually send me catalogues for my Ford Galaxy since I bought a few parts from them 2 years ago. But haven’t got my yearly Macs T parts catalog they use to send me. I don’t how they operate or drop ship from different suppliers or have a few large warehouses but the last time the sales guy I talked to wasent the best. I don’t think things will change anytime soon for them. When I do order car parts it’s not from them.

Eckler's operates out of Florida (not sure about NY location) - may have trouble finding uninfected COVID-19 workers at the beach. Besides Lang's & Chaffins there is Bob's Antique Auto-parts, S&J Auto-parts and Snyder's to name a few

...and Birdhaven, and Antique Auto Ranch, and more.

I crossed mac's off my list almost thirty years ago when I found there were other Model T parts dealers.

I use eklers for parts on my daily driver. A 1970 F100. Never had a problem yet...
Just give me time to Rust and I'll be good as new. :) Wabi-Sabi

OK; after five days I finally heard back from Eckler's via email. They promised to expedite my case, and I have no reason to believe that they won't.

Oily Bill: this is a bit off topic, but I read with interest about your phone plan being "bumped up"..."more money"...my suggestion would be....
try Straight Talk cellular. I get unlimited EVERYTHING for only $45/month. I use my smartphone more for a computer than a phone nowadays, and trust me, I eat up the data. Never any problem. Just sayin'!
