I just had a flat on the R F wheel. Upon opening the tire I found that the brass valve stem broke loose from the inner tube. Can a new stem be attached to the tube?

That depends on the hole in the tube. If it is not torn you can simply reinstall your valve. If a new tube is needed I highly recommend those made by Blockley,

Hal, Try a metal valve stem. Steve spells it out here.

The tube shown in the Blockley site has a brass stem.
So far, the 30x3” tires and tubes don’t seem to be available yet.

I'm sure the metal stem tubes from Blockley are excellent. But I have been buying Hartford tubes, cutting off the rubber stems, and installing my own metal stems. So far they have presented no problems. I intend for my next tyres to be Blockleys, but I will keep the Hartford tubes in them.
