I know my T was brewster green (varnish) and have been told the fenders were also green. But I am painting the fenders, splash shields and running boards black and only the body brewster green. I think it will look nice that way. I know that many club members have painted their 1910s red, even knowing that most all Model T built after August of 1909 were green, so I figure that black fenders with green body is okay. My T is a March 8, 1910 build and was green when new. We replaced the field coil, new old style bands and plan on putting engine back in this weekend. It stll have a later rear end, but I have original housing and complete drive shaft unit. Today were are cleaning up the original engine splash pans and paining them black. I do not have a complete original coil box, but have a very nice 1912 box with original coils to use if I want. It now runs with a 1915 box that was on the T when I bought the car 73 years ago. Wait, that was 74 years ago. (how time flies when you own a Model T Ford.

I didn't realize Darel that your car was March 8th as one of my 1910s was March 10th that was very close for that time period.

Wow, what a wonderful problem to have!! What colour do I paint my 1910 Model T .....
I painted Canadian 1910 Red and several others both here in Australia and New Zealand have done the same.
It’s your car and your choice however the original green all over with red pin striping would be my choice.
Either way, Red, Green or Purple, get it going and enjoy the thrill of driving it!!

Dang Darel. You bought it 73 years ago? You're almost the original owner.

This will be the fourth paint job for Darel's touring:

- original factory paint job
- 1930s yellow paint job (see photos below)
- late 1940s black paint job
- 2020 paint job

About five years ago, I found a photograph of Darel Leipold's 1910 touring taken in 1937, taken long before he purchased the car in 1946.

I was at a Twin Cities thrift store and I spotted a 1938 University of Minnesota yearbook so I decided to browse through it.

I kid you not, but when I opened the yearbook, the very first page I landed on had a picture of a Model T taken during the 1937 homecoming festivities. I immediately recognized it as being Darel's 1910 touring so I purchased the yearbook.

When I got home, I went on the Minnesota Historical Society website and searched for photos related to the 1937 U of M Homecoming and found a photo of the homecoming parade, which included Darel's car, taken in downtown Minneapolis.

A week or two later I saw Darel, put the yearbook in front of him and had him look at the Model T on page 40. He immediately recognized it as his car. Darel had never before seen the yearbook or parade photos; he now has possession of the yearbook.

Darel, my 1910 still has all it’s original paint. It’s all green except for the steering column under rear seet door Which are both black. SR no is 23,000.

Thanks Kim. I have viewed your remarkable T. It is a day or so off from mine. What color is the engine? My engine is complete looking except for a new timer plate. I am interested in the original color of the engine, pan and trans cover.

Does anyone know what color isbeston the engine?

I have removing black paint from the trans of my 1910 touring. Under itlooks as if it is Brewstergreen. Not a heavy coat, but what might haveneen applied when new. :

Googled 1910 Model T Touring - picture titles are not confirmed to match photo.
The circled one sold for $18,700 at auction https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/ ... ING-117665 Their description says its Black but its not - as seen in one of the detail photo's attached

That’s a1911, metal covered door.Some of Ts at that time were “midnight blue”

The photo I provided was listed as a 1910 by Barret-Jackson and sold wonder if the sale was disputed. Anyway, I dug up a photo of some of Craig Beek's cars here in town. I am certain that the colors are 100% correct.

Darel, my 1910 engine is painted black. It’s very hard to tell about the engine pans, my guess is dark green. The transmission cover was never painted.
