I recently donated an entire front axle/hubs/spring/perches/steering linkage/etc assembly to a group of guys who are reviving a clown wheelie car here in the Houston area. It was used in rodeos around here from the 1950's through 70's.
The guy who's spearheading the effort was a teenager when he helped with the original build. He told me that they ran the original Model T engine for about ten years with no mods to the oiling sytem. I asked him how they kept the front bearings lubricated and he just shrugged and said it wasn't a problem because they never ran the front end up in the air for extended amounts of time.
They switched it to a more modern engine in the 1960's because the T engine was tired but he didn't think it was because of the bearings.
Anyway, I'm intruiged by Model T's that have been adapted for different uses (like clown cars) or kept going through dire circumstances (like the Great Depression). The almost infinite number of ways they were woven into the fabric of society for most of the 20th century is amazing.
They're much more than cars...they're a distinct part of the fabric of American culture...but I digress.

The T in the "Maynard" video is rumored to still exist, albeit in poor condition.
