I was parting out some heavy rods, you know saving rod bolts and pin bolts. When I noticed this on a set.
A full set of DB made rods. I have seen a lot of DB parts, first set of rods. Dates them to pre 13? What DB parts have you got? Thanks Dan

Canadian engines still had DB heavy rods until 1916.

I am sure they were used till they were all gone. Just like Ford did with everything. But did not ford stopped using DB for parts around 13?

I have an engine in my 25rpu that was rebuilt when I got it. Before I ran it I took the oil inspection pan off to install dippers, if they weren't already. Three heavy rods and one regular rod with some flat washers making up the difference in weight. I... installed the dippers and put it back together. It is the smoothest engine I have been around. What are you going to do with the heavy rods, I would be interested. Thanks.

Interesting post about the old style rods.
Without a doubt lots of the old style heavier rods were sent to the scrap yard over time.
Most vendors won’t take them for a core for rebabiting so the question would be what to do with them.
I have a few still around somewhere if I haven’t thrown them out.
Maybe some one would put together an engine with older style engine and transmission parts for originality someday.
Now that would be interesting!

The rods that came out of the 12 when I broke the crank were DB rods we put the light weight rods in I also have the cast pistons and pins that were changed 60 years ago Dad kept every part .

My '13 had the DB rods when I got it. That was in 1961.

I put heavy rods and cast iron pistons back in my '14. Straight-cut timing gears, too. Oh, and my valve stems are not adjustable. Round tube radiator. My '14 is a '14! It's my idea of fun.
