trouble in River City.

Post by Bud Delong » Fri Jul 31, 2020 8:43 am

This morning while the wife was looking at the movie of San Francisco 1906 she remarked [Look at all the Model T"s]!! Well i did not laugh or carry on,i said there were no Model T"s !! Of course i was wrong because she could see old brass cars and spoke right up!! Like a idiot i softly said the movie was pre earthquake 1906 so there could not have been any Model T"s!! It is now very quite and still but?? Bud.

I dunno how long you've been married Bud. My wife and I are coming up on 47 years. In those many years I've learned a little (very little). I'm sure in the same situation I would have said the same thing you did, but later I would have realized that a much better answer would have been, "Yes dear, aren't they nice?"

I'd like to see that movie perhaps I could date it properly. I did search for some info on the quake. Very few auto's in fact mostly horse drawn carriages. This link has a vintage film, 12 minutes long, that shows some auto's 7 minutes into it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:San_ ... _1906.webm
The first is the one below. The other picture is of the refugees gathered & waiting, cars?

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Bud, you may not be able to catch him. He could be racing an Amish buggy down the road.
