So I need to get a rebuilt starter. I have a core. Who rebuilds these for the vendors? Are they all rebuilt by the same company? I think I saw that Ron is not doing them anymore. Recommendations please?

Have used several rebuilt units from Joe @ Buckeye Auto Electric in Ohio. Drop off the cores at swap meets he attends and pickup a fresh rebuild.

Well I went with Brent Mize "The Coil Dr." I have to say what a great guy. But all of you already knew that. He got my starter and took a look at it discovering that it had been rebuilt recently. The only issue was the shaft was bent. That was the reason I sent it to him. I also didn't know what else was wrong with it. He's going to straighten the shaft and check for endplay. Then he will test it and send it back. He could have just rebuilt the whole thing and charged me for everything. Instead he's just charging me a small fee. Thanks Brent.

I sent a generator to him a couple of years ago. He did a refresh on it and used some of the parts that tested OK that really did not need rebuilt. It's still going strong today. He left it up to me as to what I wanted repaired verses replaced.
Great guy and a true craftsman!
