Thought I would post picture pictures of how to split the Stevens Front Axle upper inserts. This can be done with a hacksaw. Just cut one side length wise as the pictures show. If any one has questions just ask. Thanks Dan

Dan - why do you suggest "splitting" your tapered bushings ?

This makes the inserts tighten up on the kingpin as the insert pulls onto the axle. Also makes it easier to install on the kingpin. You can spread the insert as you slide it on to the kingpin.

If you are familiar with the Gates Taper lock bushings in pulleys this how the split insert works.

I thank you for the explanation - my Racer has the Gates taper-lock pulleys.
