How many of you get this going by your house?

Family Farm Day is about a mile from my place this year. The Amish community has this every year. Hand corn shellers, threshing oats and games for the kids along with a History of farming presentation. I have been asked to do a fire extinguisher demo. I will also be haulling oats to the thresher with my TT. The steam engine will power the threshing machine. Saturday should be a good day!

That is very neat. I hope they didn't get pulled over for speeding!

You are lucky to live there where life is simple and those activities still thrive. To many steam events have gone away in other places. My friend Marty asked me to take he and his Uncle to a threshing event a dozen years ago in my bus. It was a great day. I spent some time sweeping the wheat chaff out afterwards. It's funny how you learn things from relatives. His Uncle asked me "How long have you known Skippy?" Nobody around here ever heard him called that.
Thanks for taking my mind to a fun place like that. Another of the good things in life.
Rich
When did I do that?

Dallas, was the steam power originally built to be towed as portible power or were the wheels added later ? Have a good time working your TT.

Yes Kevin it is a steam power unit. I dont know what year but I will ask. The tractor is a 29 John Deer D. Its all that D wanted pulling the engine. The wheels were sliping going up the hill east of me. They filled it with water when they arrived at the farm. The D didnt make it to the thresher. It spun out in the field. Had to get a bigger tractor. That D sounded great pulling a load. Pop pop pop!

I don't get to see steamers rolling down the road. I have to go about ten miles to the K&O show. But beginning in 1942 I always loved coming to Grandma's farm. Now that it's my farm, even though there are no more hogs I'm in Hog Heaven. I wouldn't rather live anywhere else. There are lots of good Model T roads too. I suppose most of us like where we live, or we'd be somewhere else. There are sure worse places than south central Kansas or northeast Indiana.

Right you are Steve. This event is to raise money for a new Amish school. Our Township has 8 Amish churches and 7 or 8 schools.

Looks like the wind took it apart and piled it on the ground. Hope no one was hurt.

SW Florida is nice most of the time, but it can be hot and humid as hell in the summah. The roads aren't great for a T either. Due to the vagaries of my pension, (my contributions were made with after tax funds) I can only live in Massachusetts (where the pension was funded), New Hampshire, Florida, Tennessee, or Arizona, without paying a state income tax on money that I have already paid the state income tax on. My property taxes in Massachusetts were scary; the other four states do not have a state income tax. For me, Florida was the best option.

Love the old iron. It's nice living out in the sticks. My old 1925 Case 12-20 is the oldest running tractor in my neighborhood.
