Replacement air filter element suggestions?
I had the bright idea to rinse the old filter oil from the foam element using lacquer thinner. That seemed to work, but gone with the old oil was the original size of the filter and virtually all integrity of shape. Oops.
Lang's catalogs the replacement elements at US$14.75US. I like Langs a lot but after USPS shipping and currency exchange that's more like Cdn$30 and at least weeks away.
I'm hoping forumeers can suggest perhaps an alternate source, reasonable substitute, or some other filter type that could be adapted. One of the things I like about this filter setup is the inconspicuous appearance — the speedster has no hood sides and anything noticeably modern makes me cringe. On the other hand, this is a fresh engine and there will be much gravel in our near future, so maybe I could live with modern and effective until we get home... T

Edmonton is mighty big town. I expect you could find some foam scraps at an upholstery shop or mattress factory. Or if you can stand the appearance you could install a generic filter like the ones I buy at O'Reilly for about $20. I think the sink drain and flange cost perhaps another $10.
The inevitable often happens.

Interesting set up Steve. Any chance you have information on that filter housing assembly? Also how is the flange attached to the carburetor.

The filter I bought at Canadian Tire. The tubing is a 1-1/4” sink trap. The carb adapter and the filter mounting plate I made. Has LOTS of filter capacity for country roads!!
NO it doesn’t make the “invisible” requirement!

Take it to a motorcycle shop - likely they have something that will fit or replace. The filter wasn't designed for a Model T - just a universal product that fit the carburetor. Remember you only have 22hp They may even have something for a ride on lawn mower or tractor shop
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

John, I don't remember the brand. I just went into the local O'reilly store and asked for a generic air filter and that's what they had. It was around $20.
At first I attached it with the standard Ford repair kit (baling wire).
Later I made some clamps to hold it in place.

Thanks Steve, I'll check out Advance, Auto zone and NAPA. I got a laugh about the bailing wire. Years ago bailing wire and duct tape kept our buses on the road.
Once I saw a bus going down 5th Avenue with a Masonite advertising sign , secured with duct taped, in place of a side panel. I'm sure that didn't go over well.
But I'm sure the public didn't mind just happy to see their ride.

Here is the link to the UNI website. They are listed by diameters and length. Also a tab to cleaning.

Check out the K&N Filters website: https://www.knfilters.com/, and see if they have something you could use. If they have a product that would work, just contact your local auto parts stores to see who has it or can get it.

Re: Replacement air filter element suggestions?
I'm late getting back to this thread, but thanks to all who responded.
The immediate need has passed — after the lacquer thinner evaporated, my filter element returned to its original size and shape. Said element is now re-oiled and back in place.
On the less-urgent hunt now for unobtrusive replacement options...
