Hello MTFCA.

Is there a way to test the functionality of a coil box (with four rebuilt coils) and switch outside of the car?

I have a wood coil box that was built a few years ago that I plan to use for my 1910 project. However, I am not sure that switch and the contacts inside the box are up to par. Is there a way to test the box and switch to make sure that it is serviceable?

Many thanks,
Mike

Turn the switch to BAT. Touch one lead to the BAT terminal on the box and the other to the strip in the bottom of the box. If the meter shows continuity the switch is working and the circuit is OK. Turn the switch to MAG. Touch one lead to the MAG terminal on the box and the other to the strip in the bottom of the box. If the meter shows continuity the switch is working and the circuit is OK. Turn the switch to OFF. Repeat the BAT and MAG tests. If there's no continuity the switch is working.
