Free start - the T wants to go!

My T wants to go somewhere!
Had a small family cook-out yesterday. One of our older grandsons came in late due to some work. Thankfully, he's very busy right now, but he couldn't resist the call of good food and another chance to look over the 14T. He's ridden in it before, but had never had his proper driving lesson. It was getting late in the evening and time for everybody to head for home so I promised him a driving lesson when we had more daylight and more time. But-I took him out to the barn to familiarize him with the starting ritual once more. I pointed out the critical elements, but said I wouldn't turn the gas on until we were actually ready to start it up.

When we got to the priming part, I let him pull the choke, give it a couple of pulls on the crank, and then showed him how to switch to BAT first to get the coils buzzing. Just as I had told him it sometimes starts on its own that way, a quick flip of the switch, and it started chuffing happily on a free start after sitting for more than a month. It ran for a few seconds then just died. I'd not turned the gas on so it started on what little remained in the float bowl. We were both surprised!

So, the T is telling me it's time to go someplace. Nice day today and it's still a holiday weekend, so later on, I'll turn the gas on this time and keep on rolling.

A geed running T will do that from time to time. Its just what they do. If you drive your T fairly regular it’s no surprise but it’s a neat experience!

If you want a GUARANTEED free start, Get a bunch of people who want to watch the cranking process of starting a non starter T.

I love how T’s are so much like horses. It makes me smile.
