After over 50 years I've finally got around to getting a new title and plates. I got the plates yesterday. My question does Va require me to use 2 plates? All the antique cars I've seen only had 1 plate, or did miss something. I'd tried to look it up but couldn't find any info. Thanks

If you are using antique tags provided by the DMV you are required to display front and rear. One exception to this is if you register to Year of Manufacture plates you are only required to display as provided in that year. Some early years it think 1914 and earlier may have only had one rear plate.

I live in Colonial Heights Virginia and own two Ts that I drive almost daily. I run the black antique tag(s) but only display the rear one and store the front one in the car in case I get questioned by the police. So far, no problems. I just don't like the appearance of my T with the front tag. bobt

I had my 1926 coupe registered in Virgina a few years back. I had 1926 YOM Virginia plates on front and rear. Personally I like the look of front plates on the improved car.

Maryland went to one plate for Historic vehicles about a year or more ago.

You have to carry the plate with you and it is good as long as you own the vehicle.

You can display period correct early plates, after they are inspected at the DMV and verified correct, then a lifetime registration is purchased for $25.

That is evidently primarily, so if go through a speed check and camera photo, they know where to send the fine letter and photo.

Perhaps Virginia also did the one plate idea.
