I got this block last week. It's a 26/7 style. No serial. I've been researching printed and digital references but can't pin down a YOM. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance.

Very interesting block. You said it is a 1926-27 style with the hogshead bosses. I see the Ford script and USA stamped on the number boss and no number. There has never been any number, the Ford stamp would suggest this. There is what looks like a original to the block casting hole for the carb rod pass through. What is the cylinder bore, is it still standard ? If it is still standard bore you may have a never used Ford replacement block. Even if it has been used it probably wasn't in a car because of no stamping of VIN.

One more thing. Because it is a replscement block the carb rod hole doesn't help dating it' a lot. A replacent block would be able to take the pre vaporizer carb. This block could have been cast any time 1926 up to around 1935-36, when Ford was stopping casting of most T blocks, having enough on hand, but I can't rule out up to 1941.

USA Ford stopped putting casting dates on blocks about 1922. Canadian blocks continued to get casting dates for several more years until almost the end of T production.
The block shown with the dual "ford"script stamped at angles is a common replacement block. Although the intention was for the old serial number to be stamped above the scripts, many many of them were never stamped. With the hogshead bolt embossments, it could have been manufactured anytime from 1926 into the mid '30s. The numbers and letters on the casting are probably mold and pattern designations used for quality control in the factory. So far as I have heard, nobody has yet found any other significance to them.
