HALL SCOTT "Ruckstell" early BRASS SHIFT LOCK BODY

Post by StevenS » Sun Sep 13, 2020 1:25 am

I have a HALL SCOTT "RUCKSTELL" 2 speed rear end in my Model TT truck. It has both of the names on it, as an example of the naming, just like the shifting level that is in the first two pictures. But what I found interesting is the early shift lock body (in the 3rd and 4th pictures) is made of brass. So my question is; Has anyone seen a shift lock like that one before? I am thinking of removing the black paint to show it off. It also has an adjustable screw with a nut on it to keep the shift lock lever snug for a smooth action.

That shifter lever is interesting. Wish they would have stuck with that design!

I prefer the brass housing. It makes it far easier to ream a worn hole to take a thin wall bronze bushing to rebuild the thing.

The shifter handle is TT for sure - have seen many Hall-Scott brass car shifter bodies but not too many TT ones.

That TT shift lever is very similar to one for a TT Rocky Mountain Six Speed shifter. Interesting. Dave
