A 21" demountable rim with a notch cut out of one lug, is a Chevy rim, right? Not Ford, right? Saw one advertised as Model T and was suspicious.

Chev 21" split rims have notched lug. And come in two widths depending on year.

Isn't the valve stem hole in a different place on the Chevy rim also? I guess you could drill another hole in the Ford location.

I have at least one like that on my 26. The valve stem hole is in the right place. The notch will allow you to put the rim on without removing the bolt from the felloe. It is notched in such a way that when you put the valve into the felloe, the lug will drop right over the bolt. Perhaps there might have been a type felloe with non removable bolts?

Thanks Dan and the others who replied. I was pretty sure it was a Chevy. If it had been a Ford, I would have bought it, but I don't need to start collecting Chevy parts at my age.

I think I have one on my late 24 Coupe. It was in much better shape than the other two Ford rims so I used it.
Nobody knows but me and you have to really look to see the notch. I don’t loose sleep over it.

Those dang Chev rims!!!! I collected a beautiful set of Hayes wire wheels for my 1915 tourer when I restored it. Got them nicely painted straw cream and mounted them on the car. When fitting up the rims/tyres to them, I found one of the wheel felloes had been drilled to take that misplaced Chev valve stem. Darn! I resorted to a plastic plug to fill the hole. when painted to match, it was hardly noticeable.

Allan I have a feeling that there are more than a few of those “dang Chevrolet rims” riding around on Model T’s than we know about! But don’t tell anybody.

You are absolutely correct John. Usually the rim is drilled for the correct Ford position for the valve stem hole, rather than the wheel felloe. We have a set of 4 on my son's 10 cwt Duncan and Fraser lorry. They are 1/4" wider than T rims, but that suits the 4.40 x 23 oversize tyres we have on it.
I find more good Chev clincher rims than Ford ones. My thoughts are that Chev owners were quick to change their clincher rims to straight sided 23" balloon tyres which were adopted soon after.
