I got a phone call saying my warrantee on my car had expired and I needed to renew. They asked me what car did I need to renew and I said my 1922 Model T Runabout. He hung up!

LOL! You would think that if it was a scam, they wouldn't care what kind or year of car you had as long as you sent them the money.

I told them 1914 and they asked me to hold. Another person came on the line and wanted to confirm that the year of my car was 2014 and I told him no, it was 1914. He argued that I told the other person 2014- he finally hung up on me. I was looking forward to renewing my warranty!

There have been Forum entries previously telling how to have fun with the expired warranty scammers. When I have time I string them along by ignoring their first question, which is always what make and year is my car. Instead, I ask them all sorts of related questions, such as "do you cover Ford?", "Does your warranty cover engine, transmission", etc, trying to burn up as much of their time as possible. When I do get around to telling them the car in question is a 1912 Ford Model T they do always just hang up, but by then I have had the satisfaction of bugging them as much or more than they bug me, turnabout always being fair game.

And the longer you keep them on the phone, the less time they have to bother others. On behalf of the Mercifully Unbothered Multitude, thank you....

All calls on my land line go to an answering machine which gives the bum's rush to politicians, preachers, and other scammers. Sometimes I find a recorded robo call to delete. Often it begins with "We tried to reach you several times by mail..." Yeah, right. If you really did, thanks for the free kindling.

When I'm bored (not often....I have three kids), I'll keep a scammer on the line and have my kids run around and make barnyard noises or make noises like one of them is being tortured. Or I'll scream something absurd, like "Billy....I swear, if you don't quit dressing that goat up in women's underwear, I swear I'm gonna sell your other kidney!!"
It's good clean fun.
