13T - First Car Show

Post by Darin Hull » Sat Sep 19, 2020 6:04 pm

Took the 13T to a local car show with over 125 cars. The Model T got the Promoters Choice trophy for being the favorite car. He said the Ford Model T simply stands out from the rest.

Sharing with you guys for two reasons. First, because my grandpa, Roger Hull, would be happy his T is out being enjoyed by his family and the public. And second, to tell you I saw first hand what you all have seen countless times... there’s something about the T that draws folks in. Even kids wrapped up in their cell phones and tablets would put them away, saw wow, and want to look all around the T.

What a wonderful car.

Darin

Ditto on the congrats. Always fun to show 'em when you first get 'em. Lord knows I did. Burnt myself out! Of course, it didn't help that at one time I had 5 to "rotate" to shows! My '13, Clara, pulled two Best of Shows, a First, a Third, and several "smaller" awards the first year! I quit showing her!! Decided it was far more fun to be out driving. The other cars pretty similar. Regardless, enjoy the shows you take it to. For that matter, you'll also find out literally every trip to the gas station is a car show! I was at the station today in "just" my 25/26 Fordor and guy after guy stopped over. Same down at the local public dock on the bay. Even youngsters and gals drooled over it. Enjoy your time with it Darin!

We have been on many national tours with Roger. His red 13 has never looked so good! You did a great job.

Last spring before c-19 we took our '26 touring to a show for the first time.
We didn't win any awards. Was not really trying to.
I think we made the other participants mad.
The other participants would be busy dusting/waxing/polishing we just talked to the spectators.
When a family would stop and we had a chance to talk.
We would like if they would like to have their pictures taken.
They would step next to it. I would open the door and let the kids get in.
The parents were really surprised. The kids would get in the front seat and behind the wheel.
Parents would pull out the phones and take pictures.
Like I said that, we didn't win awards, but a lot of spectators were talking about the opportunity to get their picture inside of the car.
Never know what would come from the picture. Maybe someone would be looking into the older 90+ year old car.

My favorite story is the show where my '23 touring was placed between a killer Ferrari and a drop dead gorgeous red '63 split window Vette. Can you guess which car drew the biggest crowd? The Ferrari owner got so pissed he went home early I suppose because people were ignoring his "million dollar" beauty. It's true: When the Model T is driving it's a parade, when it stops it's a car show." I love my T.
