I removed the fan assembly from my 1927 coupe. The surface area where the hose fits over is corroded. Will this result in leakage when the new hose is installed? Another question: The other parts of the assembly look good. If I reuse it, how likely is it that some grease will leak and make a mess? Maybe I should upgrade the whole unit as available in the catalogs. Any comments?

Clean the surface by bead blast or sand blast and lay a coating of JB Weld on the pitted area. When cured, sand down to surface and you will be good for years. JB Weld can be used to surface deep pitted sheet metal. I have used it with great success many times. Ken
