There is one for sale (was for sale) in New Zealand built on a TT chassis. Was very well done. Made 'recently' for a winery tour, so they are out there. It would make a great tour or parade vehicle, but the one for sale here had an asking price of more than a pristine original brass car would fetch. As a result the owner still has it .......

A bit longer than the one Ed Archer built.

It is the last photo in this thread and was on page 36 of the Sep - Oct 1976 Vintage Ford.
Those reminded me of it.

As I remember the one Ed Archer owned was an original vehicle that had been used by tourists in San Francisco. I remember the 10 cent charge painted on the doors. It may have been the car he rescued from some local canyon. I believe he restored it. I wonder where it is now?

As I remember it Eds long touring was made by Bill Maguire, ( not sure on his last name spelling) I remember seeing the frame in his shop. I believe the car is in the Lodi Stockton area now.

Ed’s sightseeing bus. He had his hands on some really neat autos.

Just a comment. Perhaps antique car buffs would be interested in the body style designations that were in use "back in the day" ?
A stretched multiple door touring car, however unique and interesting is not a limousine.

Younger generations seem not to know that "limo" in common parlance derived from "limousine", though it seldom describes a body that conforms to the originally applied form. Keep up the history lessons fellers !! :D

Armbruster made multi door tourings in the mid twenties and the French term limousine meant divided driver with multi passenger compartment. Many car co. made styles of limousines. The stretch versions too.

Back in the days when Suncoast Florida was nothing more than scattered villages, mangrove swamps, and dirt roads, there was a jitney service that ran from St. Petersburg to Dunedin in a stretch brass T

Sorry for the quality, but it’s a picture of a picture of a picture. The original print is in the Archives of Heritage Village...Located in Largo FL.

A caption says that thing in front of the T, opposite curb? Dispenser for gasoline...Polarine brand

George

Here is another stretch T! This one from a 1912 Torpedo with long frame and added seats. Ran as an express from Deland to Daytona FL ;)

According to 1913 ‘Brooks Automobile Handbook’ a typical Limousine body would be closed car with full doors for 4,5,6,7 passengers and drivers compartment divided.

Other bodies were listed, but under “Passenger Bodies” are taxicabs and ‘sight seeing cars’ carrying from 8 to 20 persons. So guess the proper period term for these stretch Ts is Sight Seeing Car ;)

The Model T with 6 wheels is an Arnold Autoport. This is an extra chassis fixed to the rear of the T chassis and has rear attached steering.
