Questions About Trunk Lid on 1927 Coupe
Is it difficult to remove and reinstall the trunk lid on a 1927 coupe? Is there any items that need special care? It fits very well. I want to get it back the same.

I may be wrong, but I think I recall that it has to come out forwards into the cabin, so the parcel shelf comes out first.
Fiddly, and much better with 2 people.

Take off the bolts or screws for one of the hinges, they are located inside the rain gutter, and slide that corner of the trunk lid, hinge and all, out towards the back to disengage the other hinge, then the lid will come out. one hinge will come out with the trunk lid, the other hinge will remain bolted to the other rain gutter. Goes back in the way it came out. Can all be done from inside the trunk. I did it when I was a teenager, if a teenager is not available to work inside your trunk it may help to have a second person by the spare tire to hold the trunk lid up.

Just take the bolts out of one side. Most of those trunk lids ended up as sleds in the 30's.
They make a great sled, were easy to get off, two boys could twist one out in thirty seconds!

Not doubting what you post, but even when I was a 17-18 year old teenager when my Dad and I restored my Grandfather's 27 coupe, I was too tall to possibly "curl up" enough to fit inside the trunk area. I'm now 72, and since I haven't shrunk in length and my joints aren't as flexible as they used to be, I still can't "curl up" enough to fit inside the trunk area. The trunk lid is off of my Grandfather's 27 coupe since being repainted and I know the seat assembly and package tray will have to be removed, and I will have to work from the inside to get it back in place.Humblej wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 7:27 amTake off the bolts or screws for one of the hinges, they are located inside the rain gutter, and slide that corner of the trunk lid, hinge and all, out towards the back to disengage the other hinge, then the lid will come out. one hinge will come out with the trunk lid, the other hinge will remain bolted to the other rain gutter. It turned out be easier than I had anticipated. I had the package tray out so access to the two bolts on each side was easy, with them out the lid came out with little effort.

It was a good thing my mechanic fits in the trunk area when it came time to replace the battery.
