Has anyone ever had their crankshaft belt pulley, powder-coated? Would the powder coating make the pulley so slick, it would be impossible for the belt to grip the pulley? Asking before I send some parts to my powder-coater.

Why ?? It wouldn't be sensible to paint it. There's no need. Just MHO.

Go ahead. The belt will eat it off anyhow in 20 miles.

It was a well known fact (back in the day) that you never paint the contact surface of a belt pulley because the belt won’t grip.

Powder-coat will NEVER wear off unless it is of extremely poor quality.

You may be correct about wear, but it works fine.
This pulley has more time than any T will ever see, and grips fine in a race motor.

You can't get the same tension on a T belt as a modern race engine. The fan bushing wouldn't last 5 minutes, clean steel slips enough with a bit of oil around let alone the slippery surface of 2 pack paint added as well, it's why race engines paint glyptol in side an engine, to have a frictionless surface. I wouldn't be painting it.

The coeffecient of friction of bare steel on leather vs powder coat and leather is virtually the same.

A rubber impregnated belt is slightly improved.
